My brother and his wife gave me a gift card to
Blazing Needles in Salt Lake over the holidays. They had an amazing selection of soft, beautiful, hand dyed yarns. My brother drove me over there and helped me pick out a few skeins to buy. I decided on a marbled green sort of a color. It took me a long time to decide what to make with it. This was my first time buying artisan yarns. I made a slouchy sort of beenie at first, but it ended up looking like a man hat to me, so I unwound it and tried for the first time forging my own pattern. I loosely based the hat I made on
this pattern from Lion Brand. I used it as a guide for when to decrease and how to do a bobble stitch. This new hat is perfect, and does the fancy yarn justice.
Here's a picture. Excuse the messy hair and thermal shirt. Life has been busy lately.
After I made my hat I still had some yarn left, so I made a matching scarf too.
The color isn't quite right in either photo, but it's always so hard to get colors right in photos.
Anyway, I wanted to thank Dave and Angel for the yarn. I had an awesome time stitching up the hat and scarf and I just love the look and feel of the fancy yarn.
